"诸比丘,譬如有人将燃烧的草把放在干草堆中;若不迅速用手脚扑灭,如是诸比丘,依草木而生的生物将遭遇不幸灾难。同样地,诸比丘,任何沙门或婆罗门若不迅速舍弃、驱除、灭尽、令不存在已生的不正想,他现法中将住于苦,有忧、有恼、有热恼;身坏命终后,当预期恶趣。"

97. Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā ñātike viharati giñjakāvasathe. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –

‘‘Dhātuṃ, bhikkhave, paṭicca uppajjati saññā, uppajjati diṭṭhi, uppajjati vitakko’’ti. Evaṃ vutte, āyasmā kaccāno [saddho kaccāno (ka.)] bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘yāyaṃ, bhante, diṭṭhi – ‘asammāsambuddhesu sammāsambuddhā’ti, ayaṃ nu kho, bhante, diṭṭhi kiṃ paṭicca paññāyatī’’ti?

‘‘Mahati kho esā, kaccāna, dhātu yadidaṃ avijjādhātu. Hīnaṃ , kaccāna, dhātuṃ paṭicca uppajjati hīnā saññā, hīnā diṭṭhi, hīno vitakko, hīnā cetanā, hīnā patthanā, hīno paṇidhi, hīno puggalo, hīnā vācā; hīnaṃ ācikkhati deseti paññapeti paṭṭhapeti vivarati vibhajati uttānīkaroti; hīnā tassa upapattīti vadāmi.

‘‘Majjhimaṃ , kaccāna, dhātuṃ paṭicca uppajjati majjhimā saññā, majjhimā diṭṭhi, majjhimo vitakko, majjhimā cetanā, majjhimā patthanā, majjhimo paṇidhi, majjhimo puggalo, majjhimā vācā; majjhimaṃ ācikkhati deseti paññapeti paṭṭhapeti vivarati vibhajati uttānīkaroti; majjhimā tassa upapattīti vadāmi.

Hīnādhimuttikā hīnādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandanti samenti; kalyāṇādhimuttikā kalyāṇādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandanti samenti’’.

‘‘Atītampi kho [khosaddo sī. syā. kaṃ. pī. potthakesu natthi], bhikkhave, addhānaṃ dhātusova [īdisesu ṭhānesu pāṭhanānattaṃ natthi] sattā saṃsandiṃsu samiṃsu. Hīnādhimuttikā hīnādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandiṃsu samiṃsu; kalyāṇādhimuttikā kalyāṇādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandiṃsu samiṃsu.

"迦旃延,这是一个大界,即无明界。迦旃延,缘于低劣界而生低劣想、低劣见、低劣寻、低劣思、低劣愿望、低劣志向、低劣之人、低劣语;他宣说、开示、安立、建立、开显、分别、阐明低劣;我说他有低劣的投生。"
"迦旃延,缘于中等界而生中等想、中等见、中等寻、中等思、中等愿望、中等志向、中等之人、中等语;他宣说、开示、安立、建立、开显、分别、阐明中等;我说他有中等的投生。"
"迦旃延,缘于殊胜界而生殊胜想、殊胜见、殊胜寻、殊胜思、殊胜愿望、殊胜志向、殊胜之人、殊胜语;他宣说、开示、安立、建立、开显、分别、阐明殊胜;我说他有殊胜的投生。"第三。

‘‘Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, gūtho gūthena saṃsandati sameti; muttaṃ muttena saṃsandati sameti; kheḷo kheḷena saṃsandati sameti; pubbo pubbena saṃsandati sameti; lohitaṃ lohitena saṃsandati sameti ; evameva kho, bhikkhave, dhātusova [sabbatthapi evameva dissati] sattā saṃsandanti samenti. Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –

‘‘Saṃsaggā vanatho jāto, asaṃsaggena chijjati;

Parittaṃ dārumāruyha, yathā sīde mahaṇṇave.

‘‘Evaṃ kusītamāgamma, sādhujīvipi sīdati;

Tasmā taṃ parivajjeyya, kusītaṃ hīnavīriyaṃ.

‘‘Pavivittehi ariyehi, pahitattehi jhāyīhi [jhāyihi (sī.), jhāyibhi (syā. kaṃ.)];

Niccaṃ āraddhavīriyehi, paṇḍitehi sahāvase’’ti.

"诸比丘,未来世时……乃至……现在世时,众生依界而会合、聚集。善良志向者与善良志向者会合、聚集。"
"诸比丘,譬如乳与乳会合、聚集;油与油会合、聚集;酥与酥会合、聚集;蜜与蜜会合、聚集;糖蜜与糖蜜会合、聚集;同样地,诸比丘,众生依界而会合、聚集。善良志向者与善良志向者会合、聚集。过去世时……未来世时……现在世时,众生依界而会合、聚集。善良志向者与善良志向者会合、聚集。"
世尊说了这些。说了这些后,善逝、导师又说了这些:
"由交往生荆棘,不交往则断除;
如乘小木片者,沉没于大海中。
如是亲近懒惰,善人亦会沉沦;
是故应当远离,懒惰少精进者。
与远离圣者共,精进禅修者共;
常勤奋精进者,智者共同居住。"

"诸比丘,谁不欢喜地界,他就不欢喜苦。谁不欢喜苦,我说他已解脱苦。谁不欢喜水界……乃至……谁不欢喜火界……谁不欢喜风界,他就不欢喜苦。谁不欢喜苦,我说他已解脱苦。"第六。

121. 在舍卫城居住……乃至……"诸比丘,有四界。哪四界?地界、水界、火界、风界。诸比丘,凡沙门或婆罗门不如实了知这四界的味、患、离,我说他们不是真正的沙门或婆罗门,不被认为是沙门中的沙门或婆罗门中的婆罗门;这些尊者们也未能在现法中以自己的智证悟、实现、成就沙门果或婆罗门果而住。"
"诸比丘,凡沙门或婆罗门如实了知这四界的味、患、离,我说他们是真正的沙门或婆罗门,被认为是沙门中的沙门或婆罗门中的婆罗门;这些尊者们也能在现法中以自己的智证悟、实现、成就沙门果或婆罗门果而住。"第八。
